Anti-gun Bills Poised to be Heard at Any Moment in the Illinois House!

Please Contact Your State Representative Today!

In the Illinois State House there are six bills that are aimed at weakening your Second Amendment rights.

House Bill 731 would expand the current mandatory storage law and make it virtually impossible for law-abiding gun owners to store a firearm in a way that would leave it readily accessible for self-defense;

House Bill 758 would create a virtual ban on the private transfer of firearms;

House Bill 796 would create a new state-based licensing bureaucracy for firearm dealers;

House Bill 4357 would ban countless semi-automatic firearms and .50 cal. rifles and ammunition;

House Bill 4393 would place a limit on the number of handguns an individual may lawfully purchase;

Finally, Senate Bill 1007 would ban the manufacture, possession, delivery, sale, and purchase of standard capacity ammunition magazines capable of holding more than ten (10) cartridges. This bill is worded so broadly that it would also ban certain firearms, such as some Henry rifles, which have attached tubular magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition. This lever-action rifle, whose design dates back to the 1860s, could be prohibited under SB 1007, making this bill far more than a magazine ban.

Get the movie Border—
And experience the true horror that is the illegal invasion.
Borders MovieFrustrated by our nation’s failure to secure our borders, filmmaker Chris Burgard grabbed his camera and set out for answers. He wanted to record firsthand the affects of the illegal invasion that was devastating our country, and expose it to all in riveting reality. He went to the borders a concerned citizen. He returned a passionate activist!

Winner of multiple film awards including the 2007 California Independent Film Festival for Best Documentary, Chris’s movie Border is far more than a documentary. It is a chilling portrait of where we’re at as a nation, and where we are headed unless our borders are secured!

Borders has been opening eyes and changing lives across the nation, prompting many to say it should be required viewing. We agree, and want to start with Grassfire team members who are eager to see the fence built and our borders secured.

Interior Department To Propose
New Rules Regarding Right-to-Carry In National Parks

After nearly five years of effort by NRA-ILA, the U.S. Department of the Interior has finally responded to the many requests for a change in its policy on carrying and transporting firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges.  In a letter hand-delivered today to the U.S. Senators who wrote him asking for this policy change, Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne has directed Lyle Laverty, Assistant Secretary for Fish, Game and Parks, to “develop and propose for public comment by April 30, Federal regulations that will update firearms policies on these lands to reflect existing Federal laws (such as those prohibiting weapons in Federal buildings) and the laws by which the host States govern transporting and carrying of firearms on their analogous public lands.”

Mayor Daley Unveils Gun Control Package in Illinois!

Please Contact Your State Representative and State Senator Today!

In the wake of the recent tragedy at Northern Illinois University, anti-gun extremists in Illinois and across the nation are working to exploit the horror felt by all at the senseless killing of five students.  This week, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley (D) announced his annual push to restrict our Right to Keep and Bear Arms by conjuring up the image of the tragedy at NIU.  “The tragic deaths at Northern Illinois last week are a fresh reminder,” Daley stated, as he promoted efforts to ban countless semi-automatic firearms, .50 cal. Rifles, and ammunition (House Bill 4357 and Senate Bill 1912), implement a limit on the number of handguns an individual may lawfully purchase (House Bill 4393),  and require ammunition serialization/encoding (House Bill’s 4259, 4269, and 4349), just to name a few of the proposals.  Of course, none of these schemes would have had any impact on what happened at NIU.  Even long-time anti-gun Illinois State Senator John Cullerton (D-6) “acknowledged that the newest legislation may not have prevented” the tragedy, reported the Chicago Tribune.

Daley’s anti-gun assault will also include mandatory storage (House Bill 731), firearm dealer licensing (House Bill 4541 and Senate Bill 1919), a virtual ban on the private transfer of firearms (House Bill 758 and Senate Bill 2280), and a ban on magazines with a capacity of more than 10 rounds (House Bill 5169, as well as a provision of HB 4357 and SB 1912).  This will likely be only the start of Daley’s anti-gun shopping list.  And how does Daley feel about law-abiding citizens who oppose these attacks on freedom?  He likens them to common criminals, stating, “I know many people may not appreciate these proposals – especially the gang bangers, the drug dealers and the thugs who terrorize our neighborhoods with their weapons.”  Some of these proposals may be pushed through committees next week, while others could see action later.

At this time, it is critical that law-abiding gun owners in Illinois contact their State Representative and State Senator and urge them to oppose these attacks on the Second Amendment, especially considering they are being shamelessly promoted as a response to a crime none of them could have prevented.
